Life in America - What does all it all mean?

Now that you have completed organizing your thoughts about the three texts we have been working with, it is time to begin a “mini-compare/contrast” essay. However, rather than writing an essay, you are going to be composing a blog entry.

Your Task:
Compare and Contrast TWO of the three texts we have been working with by writing three paragraphs about the significance in the different views portrayed about America.

What to include:
The titles of the two texts you will compare and contrast.
1 paragraph about the similarities in the two texts.
1 paragraph about the differences in the two texts.
1 paragraph reflecting on what this (the fact that they are different) suggests about life in America.

The New Collosus and Let America Be America Again. These two poems are very different in their veiw points about America. One poem isntalking about how America is very welcoming to everyone no matter what color or race you are and its all equal. The other tells how America never really was what it says it is.
The New Collosus by Emma Lazarus is a poem about how great our country is. How welcoming we are to everyone who comes here. How we give many opportunities that other countries never gave.
Let America Be America Again by Langston Hughes is a poem downing America. Our country was never free or equal. Never did it live up to its name. America is just like the other countries without a dictator.

The similarites of my two comparing and contrasting texts is "Let America Be America Again" and "Two Ways to Belong in America." The similarities between these two texts is that they revolve around problems in America. With these similarites they oppose how America represents freedom but they don't follow their own rules. In "Let America Be America Again" the main idea is that America is supposed to free but we push away cultures and immagrants. Then in "Two Ways to Belong in America". People of other countries are treated very differently in America. These two texts are very similiar.
The two poems or texts i will use to represent differences are,"The New Colossus" and "Let Americs Be America Again".

Comparing and Contrasting : The New Colosssus & Let America Be America Again.
The Similarities between the two is , they both speak upon America , and it's freedom.
The difference from Let America Be America Again is talking about, America is not what it makes itself out to be. From the quote " There's never been equality for me, Nor freedom in

I will be comparing the two poems "The New Colossus" and the poem "Let America Be America Again". To begin these stories are smilar in the fact that they are both about America, but they have two different meanings. The first poem "Let America Be America Again" is about how America wasnt ever really what everyone wanted and dreamed it to be. The second poem "The New Colossus" is about imigrants comming into America and all their hope to start fresh. Both these peoms are about people coming to America to start new, with hopes comming in,but their hopes deminished soon into moving here in America.
These poems also have their differences. The first poem "Let America Be America Again" these people have been beatin and have became slaves and have had a horrible time in America. Then the second poem "The New Colossus" is showing how much hope people have and how much people really like America. This country is looked upon highly by most other countries and hey want to come here to start over. Most people were forced to become slaves and do whatever they possibly could to live the American dream.
This suggests that America isnt all its hyped up to be...
