As you know, we have been reading William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, a play that deals with major human issues like loyalty, revenge, and power. We just finished the death of Julius Caesar and Mark Anonty’s speech to the people of Rome, a speech that is so heavily laced with irony and the rhetorical appeals (ethos, pathos, and logos) that it convinced all of the citizens to believe in his cause. Today, you will be comparing yourself to Mark Antony.
Your Task Today:
Rewrite Anonty’s speech from Act III, Scene II in modern language.
Steps to Take/Questions to Consider:
Step 1- Think about Anonty’s Position. What would you do if you were in his shoes?
Step 2 – Re-read and evaluate Anonty’s speech. How would this speech be different if it were given today?
Step 3 – Rewrite the speech in today’s language as YOU would write it. How can you convert the speech to today’s language while still maintaining the heavy uses of irony and ethos, pathos, and logos?

Everybody, I speak in the truth to all of you. Caesar was a good man. And he still will be inside of all of us. And this will be a peace of Earth taken away from us. But there was rumors going around saying that he was ambitious. But I have my own opinion. And mine is saying that he wasn't ambitious because if he was he would've took the crown when we offered it to him. Well offered it to him three times. But he refused all of them. And taking a crown on the spot would be truely be amitious. They said that he paid his dept of his ambition, when he wasn't being ambituous. So he shouldn't have paid something he didn't or wasn't something.This is me Mark Antony and I would seek to revenge and won't stop until dept is paid to all of the people with Caesar's blood. So now Caesar's coffin has a piece of my heart. Farewell Caesar.

Im here to discuss the death of caesar is this something we should be ecstatic about. They say that the good die young is this why evil still remains in our presents. i come to speak at caesar's funeral not only was he my friend but he was a brother i never had. did it seem ambitious when i presented caesar with a crown and he refused three times. I'm here to share with you the death of Julius Ceaser.Im not here to tell you his life and what he ment to me but im here to barey his justice.Our great friend Brutus says that Ceaser had some ambition in him if so how could he not become royal ? although Brutus is a loyal friend ? Good morning to all, I am Mark Antony, the very best of Caesar friend. I'm here to say what I have to say, to bury; but not to praise him. When people do something wrong, like rob someone, abuse you're loving mates, or even to take someone life. Those actions live upon you for the rest of your life, and haunts you back before you even know it and you'll live with full regert. Warm caring heart, that's what Csaesar had. ~ Listen up everyone! I have something important to say. I have come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The men that took Caesar's life walk among us. The noble Brutus has told us all that Caesar was ambitious. If it was true, it was a selfish act, and poor Caesar had answered it. I am here under Brutus's permission and the rest, because Brutus is "honorable", and so is the rest, I come to speak at Caesar's funeral. He was my best friend, and faithful to me. But our "honorable" Brutus says he was ambitious. Caesar have brought many poeple home to us, who ransoms were not cheap. Did this seem ambitious of Caesar? When we cry, so did he. Ambition should be made up of more seriousness. But as our "honorable" Brutus recalls, Caesar was ambitious. You all saw the night of the feast with the priest, Lupercus, I offered the King's crown to three times. Three times! And Caesar refued those three times. Was that ambition? Was it? Mark Antony is pretty sad and angry about caesar's death because he loved him very well and casca and brutis striked him as planned because they did not want caesar as their king.
If i was Mark Antony i would set revenge on the people who killed caesar and take caesar's place as king.
This speech would be diffrent today because when the words were coming out of his mouth there where fully irony and there would probably more difficult talking roman during the B.C. times. But today it would be easier because people dont use as many irony as it was used before. people just flow their sentences using words that would fit right.
